Corn, also called maize, is an essential crop in India. It is especially grown in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan. Corn is a versatile plant used for meals, animal feed, and numerous industrial merchandise. In India, farmers plant corn throughout main seasons: Kharif (monsoon) and Rabi (winter). The Kharif season, from June to September, is the most critical for corn farming. Corn grows well in hot weather with mild rainfall.
Corn is a staple in the Indian weight loss program. People use it to make conventional foods like corn roti and corn porridge. Corn is also processed into merchandise like corn oil, cornflakes, and feed for animals.
The Indian government allows corn farmers by means of imparting subsidies and promoting studies to enhance crop yields. With better farming strategies and hybrid seeds, corn production has multiplied significantly. According to estimates, India produced 34.6 million tons (mt) of maize in the last season with the potential to double production in order to meet the supply-demand gap efficiently and sustainably.
